I’ve made a lot of vegan brownies experimenting over the last few months and have found some are way too sugary, too dry and crumbly or you have to add chocolate chips or chunks for a burst of chocolate. Not so with these!
These brownies are so easy to make, along with being super-moist, gooey and fudgy and they have just right right balance of chocolate throughout.
You don’t even need chocolate chips for extra chocolate flavor, unless you want to add them, but seriously, you don’t need them. These are just good ole’ brownies without all the frills!
However, walnuts would be an exception, because they always great with brownies!

SUPER EASY FUDGY VEGAN BROWNIES
- ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder I prefer and use Ghiradelli 100% Unsweetened Cocoa Powder or Hershey’s Dark
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup non-dairy butter 1 stick
- 2 tablespoons canola oil or oil of choice if using coconut oil melt it with butter
- 1 ¼ cups sugar
- ½ cup applesauce for vegan version
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
